Greetings from England,

My name is Jose. I live in Huntingdon, Cambridgeshire, England. I had my lap band surgery about 3 years ago. I started at 321 pounds and was able to lose about 60 pounds but in the last year have gained most of it back. I am back up to 308. So I decided to go see my doctor and the surgery coordinator. They were both very supportive and encouraging.

They did share with me that they have discovered that you can have too much Fluid in the band so they took a little out. I was having difficulties, mostly in the morning, eating Breakfast and sometimes lunch. I thought that was a good thing. But, as we all know, eating breakfast and lunch is important and helps you not to eat too much later. My biggest problem is me....and eating in the evenings. I feel as though I am back on track though.

Optimistic!

Welcome Jose!

You did the right thing by reaching out to the Dr and Surgery Coordinator again. Sounds like you know where you fell down in the past and now you know what to do to get back on track. I know you will reach your goal! I am just at the start of my journey (getting banded on Tuesday) but this is a great place to find support.

Welcome! i too am struggling with getting back on track after giving birth to my child and neglecting my band. Its feels so much harder the second time around, I would like to wish you luck and offer you my support and know that if it was done once it CAN be done again! Track everything you eat, make healthy choices. If you like to snack at night you should consider a snack high in Protein. My go to Protein is cottage cheese and i usually find that if i do eat my protein im fulller longer. Good luck to you

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
