I'm afraid they are going to tell me the lap band isn't for me but I have been thru soooo many diets and haven't lost a pound! Please tell me I have a chance:(

Welcome! It is normal to be a little scared but you have come to the right place. Every insurance company has different requirements for you to qualify for surgery but they can give you a general idea at the info session you are attending. Do you have any health problems as a result of your weight (high blood pressure, sleep apnea, things of that nature)?

I was self-pay. The lapband changed my life.

I day of my surgery I was a 54" inch waist and am now a 33" waist.

The best part besides the weight loss is that my acid reflux went away. I suffered from acid reflux since i was 14.

The band can change your life. My only regret is that I didn't get it done sooner.

This is a great place to ask questions and to get information and to meet great people.

Wt. Loss: 156 lbs

I'm 5'2 and 219, my BMI was 40. My insurance required I have a BMI IF 40 but as a self pay I only had to be 50 lbs over weight which I far exceeded. I don't see you having an issue. Good luck!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
