It depends I know people who have to go to support groups before they get surgery. I waited about a month to hear back from insurance. Once your approved by them you'll probably get your surgery maybe a month later.

I have Anthem BCBS. Approval took two weeks, after which point I was able to schedule my surgery. Due to a busy schedule for my surgeon, I got my surgery about a month later.

I was approved in less than a week. I was approved on February 28th but I didn't get a surgery date until April 16th. I kept getting excuse after excuse of why it was taking so long. First the insurance couldn't get my approval faxed into my doctors office because their fax wasn't working, that took several days to even get sent over. Then the doctors office kept delaying everything because they had just moved offices. I think waiting for that surgery date was the most stressful time of my life! lol

Aetna approved my surgery within 10 days of the paperwork and letter of medical necessity being submitted.

Waiting to hear is not fun...I hope they respond to you with a decision quickly...

It was about 3 weeks after approval I think. I got a surgery date before I was approved by insurance

I was approved in like a week. The big question is whether your doctor asked you to loose any weight. My doctor wanted me to loose 10% body weight. So that can affect how quickly you have surgery.

My doctor submitted to insurance right before Thanksgiving. They have 30 business days to respond. With all the holidays and office closures it was mid-January before I got approval, surgery was a month after that. My surgeon required a 2 week pre-op diet.

It took a week to get the approval from my insurance. Surgery is scheduled for May 10th. That was 3 weeks after the approval. I have 2 weeks of pre-op to do.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
