So I have been making a big deal about the fact that i haven't lost any weight on my pre op diet..... So I was going over all my paper work and reading the protien shake instructions.....UGH IM NOT GETTING NEARLY ENOUGH PROTIEN......I was putting one scoop in my shake insted of 2.........This was a silly mistake I know......I could kill myself.. I used to make protien shakes for my boyfriend and only used one scoop and thought that was what I was to do for myself......NOOOOOOO...

Awww Charda shake (no pun intended) it off hon. Its going to be ok. You just change it now. The preop diet is for the most part to not lose weight but to shrink that liver down. Just look at it as one step to getting closer to the band we all need...

We all make mistakes, so try to move on and not ruminate about it.

The additional scoop of Protein will likely help produce a weight loss on your scales. And as Deb wrote, most importantly, you are one step closer to getting your band! :)

I didn't lose that much before my surgery, 9 lbs I think. I have lost a lot since the surgery 6 days ago, 15 lbs total. Don't worry about the mistake, we are sure to make a lot of them as we go through this process.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
