I can't believe that I am having surgery this week. It is starting to feel real. One more day so 2 shakes and lean cuisine and then Wed I am on all Clear Liquids. I am first surgery Thurs at 7:30am (arrive 6:00am) and they say I should be home shortly after 1200. They told me liquids through Sunday and then pureed/mushy foods like oatmeal, cottage cheese starting on Monday.

Seems like there is such a wide range of diet progression with everyone's surgeons. I feel really confident with my surgeion. He is one of the top in our area.

Getting ready to have this step behind me and start uncovering my skinnier self again!

...good luck with it all... you are so lucky really to be able to go onto foods like that so early. wow.. i was clear liquids the first week, thicker liquids the second, a little thicker again for the third, and fourth, and now introducing some more meats. still finely cut or minced though and not dry . i cant have cottage cheese yet and im over a month out. by the sounds of it you wont have to run the gauntlet of ''lapband hell' like some of us have... and thats great. i hope it all goes really well. Im sure it will. :)

I'm excited for you---Only one more day, and you are on your way!

It's great that your surgeon has a wonderful reputation! Try to focus on that thought if you start to experience any nervousness.

Best wishes for your surgery. As soon as you feel like it, let us know how you're doing.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
