Delayed Restriction?

Recommended Posts

Hi All!

I had my second fill approx 2 weeks ago. I am now at 6cc's in an 11cc band. Just wondering if it's normal for restriction to set in 2 weeks after a fill? I found with my first fill, I had restriction fairly soon after, but this time, it's almost like a delayed reaction. Is this normal?

I'm not complaining! I actually know what it feels like now for the first time and getting full on a cup of food or less is a learning curve to say the least :)

Thanks!

Lisa

I have heard lots of people say that this happens to them so yes it is normal. Not sure how this works , just another one of those weird band things.

I usually feel the most retriction 3-5 days after my fill. Then it takes me like a week to figure out how to eat so I don't get stuck, slime or pb.

This happened to me as well. Had my fill on 4/1 but didn't fee restriction until the 16th or so...and I wasn't expecting the delay so I was in pain a couple of times from eating too fast but then realized the reason. I wonder why this happens?

Very normal. My doctor won't give an additional fill for at least 2 weeks because the effect can be delayed.

Thanks everyone for your responses.. I'm glad I finally have some restriction although it has been a learning process with the chewing and hoping things won't get stuck. This band is like meeting a few friend and learning about their quirks.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
