Hello everyone,

My name is Karen and I live in Pittsburgh, Pa. I am 32 and have an appointment to start the lapband application process on 3-16.

:clap2:

I am a research fanatic so in the 2 weeks since I have discovered the lap band surgery, I am hooked. I can't wait to have it done.

I am new to these boards and am still trying to figure out how to use them lol.

Have a great week,

Karen

Welcome to LBT Karen! Lots and lots of great research material here for the taking! Speak up if there's something specific you want to know about. I'm sure there's an old thread on it, and if we can't find it, you can start a new one! Good luck!!

Welcome Karen! Glad you joined us!

I remember well the exictement I had when I started learning about the band. It's a feeling of hope like I hadn't had in years. The lapband offers the possiblity for great success, but keep in mind that it will not solve all of the problems that brought us all to obesity. It is a wonderful tool for those that are mentally ready to use it to it's fullest potential.

Get to know everyone.. ask tons of questions.. and browse through the endless supply of stories and opinons from those who struggle, those who are elated with their success, and those who are in the process of learning more just like you.

Hi,

Welcome to LBT. When I first came here I kept wondering and asking about abbreviations in conversations. To make it easier for yourself you might want to check out the “FAQ’s and Resources” Forum. There are a couple of threads about abbreviations which will help you understand what people are talking about. HTH (hope this helps!) and good luck to you.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
