Stuck At 22 Pounds...

Recommended Posts

I got banded Feb 23, 2012. I am frustrated beyond belief right now. Have been at 292 for 2.5 weeks without change. Even started using My Fitness Pal again and am eating around 1600 to 1800 calories a day and still nothing. Started walking. Nothing. Haven't had my first fill yet (April 11) but am thinking I am failing :( Also frustrated that I still regurgitate a lot...not throw up but it feels like food stacks up in my esophagus ...blah. I am starting to really hate this thing. :(

Are you supposed to be eating that much? Are you makng good food choices? I was told 1200 cal/day high protein/low carb and at least 30 minutes of exercise daily by physician on the day of surgery. Secondly, you don't have a fill which may provide you some restriction, but your calorie intake appears to be really high. Keep your head up, you still early in the game. You must chew chew chew. It sounds like you are overeating or chewing/swallowing lg amounts of food. Remember take 1 minute between each dime size bite, the food has to be squeezed past the band. Goodluck to you on your journey to being a healthier you.

I maintain when I eat 1500 a day. I ate around 1000 a day for the first year and now try to stay under 1300 because it has gotten harder for me to stay so low. I'd try lowering your intake.

Yea 1800 cals sound like a lot. I would shoot for 1500 at the MAX. Then if you can live with that try to get down to 1200 or 1300.

Are you drinking enough Water? Eating too much sodium? That can affect your weightloss. Are you taking your Vitamins?

I agree with everyone, it sounds like your calorie intake is very high. Try lowering it and increasing your activity a little more. Good Luck.

I can see everyone's point here. I figured if I ate 2800 cals before surgery then 16 to 1800 would be golden, KWIM? Yes to Vitamins. No to sodium. I still find myself snacking...bad habit :(

But you were more than likely gaining weight at that intake. Calories in must be less that calories out!

plus you are only a month and half out.. havent had a first fill yet. I am about to go for my 3rd fill and im still not in the green zone.. I try and stay around 1000 and i exersize 3-4 times a week burning approx 400-600 each time. it takes burning 3500 calories to lose 1 lb!!!!!! you will get there. I had my surgery 12/23 and have lost 45 i have hit about 3 plateus (sp) so far!!! keep your head up :))

I didn't really start losing until 3rd fill. My fitness pal helped too. I was allowed 1200 calories per day. Now in a kind of self imposed maintenance mode ( because I have less than 7 pounds to goal) I am between 1500 and 1800 per day. But I'm not losing at that level. I would do the 1400 per day and focus on Protein intake. I never denied myself a food I wanted but I was sure to get my protein in every day.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
