Hi mija4life12,

A lot will have to do with your insurance....they set the rules. Most require a bmi of 40 or 35 with a comorbidity like sleep apnea, diabitese, high blood pressure. Some require a 3 or 6 month supervized diet. Others require nothing.

And Most are required to attend a band seminar. Most will be required to see a pychologist and nutritionist and will havea varity of tests done including blood work and ekg's.

After you have jumped through all the insurance hoops then they will send all your paperwork and tests to the insurance and they will review it and decide if you are a good candidate. That can be done in as little as 24 hours or as long as 6 weeks....I think the average is somewhere in between probably like 2-4 weeks.

But in the mean time, take this time to educate yourself and the band and make sure this is a life style you can embrace and committ to. Go a head and get your head in the game and start establishing new routines that include exercise and eliminating bad food habits from your diet....1 thing at a time.....that way you won't feel like everything changes all at the same time.
