C25K Question And First Nsv!

Recommended Posts

I'm officially 9 days post-op right now. As of today, I feel like I'm back to 100%. All of the internal pulling and tugging I felt is gone, no pain with bending or stretching, etc. YAY!

Anyway, my surgeon said that I should wait until three weeks out to start at the gym. I'm assuming that includes C25K. How far out were you guys when you started? I was kind of hoping to start Monday, but that would put me at 2 weeks. Also, week 1 of C25K wouldn't be a HUGE strain on my body as I've always been very active prior to surgery (thanks to my retriever pup). Not sure if that makes a difference.

AAAANNNDD first NSV: putting on this "sexy coat" that used to cut off the circulation in my arms... and it FITS! :) Down 30 pounds as of today!

I know you feel good and ready to get started, but I think if your doctor told you to wait 3 weeks, then you should wait three weeks......You just never know....I would hate to pull something loose and mess things up. Maybe you could just walk this first week and start c25k in another week. If you have your heart set on starting, I would at least call the doctor an get the ok.....have you even had your post-op appointment yet?

Congratulations on your weight loss. Did you lose all 30 lbs in the 9 days? I am not banded yet, but I would listen to the doctor. Ask him if you can do light weights at home in a chair for support, or squats or maybe wall push ups.

You are so inspiring. Thanks for sharing your success.

The first week is not bad at all but I def would be hesitant to start. I was in the gym walking on treadmill and neighborhood first week out but the running that goes on is rough some weeks. I did great until week 3 then again stuck at week 6. I was banded in August but started c25k day before Thanksgiving. I lost 25 lbs before beginning to run. I have my 5K this Sunday and run over 3 miles now. It's an amazing program that I feel has transformed me inside and out. I really enjoy running!!! I first ran a 5k 11 years ago but this is my first banded and feel so ready! Take it easy and listen to your body!!! good luck!!!

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.
