Time Off Work After The Surgery.-True Results Gave Me False Information.

Recommended Posts

I am an overnight sticker. I asked if I took off work ten days if I would be OK to go back to work they said yes. Then I asked if I took off 5 days would I be OK to come back and they said yes. Now the Dr office its self says take off 4 weeks. What do I DO!!!!!!! IF I HAS KNOWN THIS I WOULD HAVE DONE THINGS DIFFERENT.

No way will you need four weeks. Five days for a desk job will be fine, you may find the first couple of days a bit of a struggle, ten should certainly be enough.

My job is a phhysical one. Lifting up boxes. Going up and down ladders. No time is OK cause you will.always be leaving someone short.

I would expect that if you have doctors note that you need light duty your employer would need to respect that. I know in MA that after 5 days you would be eligible for short term disability if your employer offers that. I would expect they would rather give you altered duties than have you be out on disability.

Business of course wants everyone to be at 100% all the time. However the reality is if someone had a heart attack or broke a leg they would not be at 100% for quite a while.

Go to HR and tell them you are having surgery and will need light duty for several weeks. Tell them you will be able to supply a doctors note. You doctor should give you a note that just says you had abdominal surgery not neccesarily say WHAT kind of abdominal surgery.

You do not have to tell them what surgery you are having due to HIPPA law.

Unfortunately I work for Walmart. They want you at full duty or they do not have a place for you. I have short term Disability. My job will be safe.

There is one girl out when she comes back in a month than another goes on vacation. If I wait till its convenient then we are talking the end of may or June. I do not want to wait that long. I am going to just do it!!!

You sound like me, we worry about everyone else but us. But everyone else has no problem taking off leaving office short. I too had md give me notice for 4 weeks but I was only offf for one week. Take time you feel YOU need. its different for everyone. and check with your doctor. He should back you up, and isn't there union with Walmart?

Walmart is so big you are just a number. They have LOA to protect your job. The more I think about it the more I am going to do it now and not wait to June.

No way I would wait until June. As I said most companies would be truley happy if employees worked 23 hours a day and could be recharged like a cell phone for the remaining hour. Is someone elses vacation more important than your health? I don't think so. I know I'm a bit cynical but after being a perma temp for 2 years after being laid off; that's just the way it is.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
