I Have A Couple Stupud Questions???

Recommended Posts

I probably should know the answers but I've been reading a lot about be stuck, what exactly is that? Also what is PBing? I'm 3 weeks post op hoping to get my first fill next week since I can still eat a good amount. Not as much as I used to but I would like a little more restriction.

Stuck is a very heavy painful feeling in the middle of your chest. PB is when you get a wet regurgitation of what ever you just ate. Please note I have only ever been stuck on raw carrots (which are hard as a rock) and cheap doughy white bread. I am at restriction and have never had a PB.

There is no such thing as a stupid question - except for the one that you don't ask. So good on you for asking!

Honk has described both as they have occurred in my experience. Neither are pleasant but gee that make you learn the lesson about chewing, eating slowly, small bites etc!

For me, being stuck is the worst ! it feels like heartburn sorta , in the middle of your chest. nothing will make it go up or down until its ready to, so chew, chew , chew and chew some more, taking small bites. PB=Productive burping, its burping a bit to make some thing move that might just be a little stuck. TMI ALERT- stop reading if you get grossed out easily. last week i had mexican food, just a little of the inside of a quesadia, 3 chips chewed well, and 3 sips of a margarita ( forgot that i wsnt supposed to use a straw -ever !) well......... after 2 trips to the bathroom wherei pb'd up the dinner, i proceded to completely throw up and slime my whole dinner out. not pretty................ i had the leftovers the next day with no probs, so im guessing it was the alcohol in the margarita, or the straw. either way i dont want to do that again ! so be advised, watch what you eat and drink !

I get to finally eat real food( not pureed) today and I can't wait. My daughter and I are going out for mexican. I didn't know we aren't supposed to drink thru a straw... Why is that? I'll make sure I chew everything really good tho, y'all explained everything very well and I appriciate it, now I know what to be aware of.

My Doctor orders no straw using because it will increase gas in the body. I have used them occasionally with iced tea with no problems myself.

Enjoy your first meal out. :)

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
