How Quickly Can I Expect To Lose The Weight?

Recommended Posts

Exercising 2-3 times is a good start, but I would encourage you to set aside 30 mins a day to just move. I hate exsercise!! so I have to play mind games with myself to ever do it.

Everyday at 11am I make my lunch at sit it in the frig.....then I tell myself you can eat when you move for 30 mins if I don't move then I tell myself its a Protein Shake instead.....The thought of drinking any more of those Protein Drinks makes me get up and move almost every time----I hate those things!!!

Works for me. I find that it is much harder to break a habbit that you do every day than one you only do every other day.

wow, im so glad to read that some of you who started at higher weights, have lost so much in one year. I know each of us are different, and if i dont lose at the same rate, not to be discouraged. I started at 356 the day i met the surgeon, 1/26/12 I have been dieting and working out ever since, but no budge on the scale..i have lost a few inches tho. I have set a goal of 75 lbs for my first year and a total of 156 over all. obviously at only 5'1, 200 lbs will still be heavy for me..but its a realistic goal for me to start with, and once i reach that, then ill set another one.

Hearing about the stories on here..makes me realize that my year goal is verrry doable.

Well I'll tell you..I started out at 303 lbs. but started working out and dieting 6 months before I had the surgery and lost 55 lb.s prior to my band...It's a bit discourging because now I am only losing 2 lbs a week..But it's because I lost the majority of my buldge early. Keep your head up and be positive and you will make your goal !! Play by the rules.....and don't get stuck !

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
