I am allergic to Vicodin and it's relations...so they gave me Ultram. I paid a compounding pharmacy to make it liquid...entire prescription with liquifying it cost $30 with insurance. Insurance is normally just $15 copay...but apparently they don't pay for squishing... 50mg every 4-6 hours as needed.

What about nausea meds? They prescribed me Phenergen gel that you put on your wrists for absorption...it seems kind of strange to absorb nausea meds through your wrists...anyone else have this?

I was prescribed Percocet tablets every four hours. I cut them in half to make sure they'd go down. It worked well for me - took the edge off and made me sleepy. The only thing I didn't like was the wild, vivid dreams I had while taking them. I didn't need anything after the first couple days. My best friend was a heating pad...I highly recommend it!

I had little demerol tablets, could take every four hours. I think I only used them the first couple of days; they made me feel quite weird!

I didn't take any pain meds and I regret it...the nurse made me feel so guilty about filling my prescription, like I was some kind of drug addict or something, so I didn't do it. I just took chewable Tylenol, which did precisely squat.

I got Loratab Elixir. I took just about all of it the first go around. Not so much this time around.

They didn't prescribe anything for nausea so my mother had Pheregan (sp?) tablets that I took for two days until it passed. I get real nauseous after surgery apparently.

I took liquid Tylenol for the first 2 days. I had a script for liquid Percocet that I never got filled... just because im a dumba** and bullheaded. My worst pain has been from gas in my left shoulder/neck but today it seems to have almost subsided.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
