Nuther newbie question...

Recommended Posts

When did this forum begin? Because I'd like to know the experience of a bander who has had their band for years and years.

The owner of this board has been banded for at least 2 years I know of for sure, but he doesn't post that often. He has a day job! LOL!!

There are bandsters on here that have been banded for 3 years that post often. I was banded for 18 months.

So there are lots of good reference people on this board in various stages of banding.

Mae's a great site to read, if you're just looking for a long-term success story: http://www.myagb.homestead.com/index.html -- she makes me excited!

If you want advice from someone banded for a long time, perhaps start a thread "Looking for advice from someone banded 2+ years ago" or "Experienced bandster advice needed". They're out there, you just have to find 'em! I've seen some that are 5+ years, I think one was 10 (don't quote me on that). There's a bunch that are 2+ years.

When you're looking at someone's post, check out their signature... it often has their band date (mine is 10 days ago, lol). And in the top right corner of the name portion of their post is their join date... some have been hanging out here a LONG time! :)

Good luck!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
