What Made You Choose Lapband Over Roux-En-Y Wls?

Recommended Posts

I'm just throwing this out there - you CAN lose as much on lap as gastric if you put your mind to it. There are people on here that have lost 175-200+ pounds. I'm down more than 110 in less than 9 months - these results are more in line with gastric. Again it's all about putting the work in - and i'm sure there's more work with band but as far as pure weight loss bandsters can give gastrics a run for their money! ;)

I need to lose 100 pounds. I chose LB because I felt the alternative was too extreme for me. If I was 200 lbs over weight' date=' I would have chosen otherwise.[/quote']

Me too! At my target is 80 pounds, and that's to reach a bmi of 18! I was between the Lapland and the gastric balloon which you get through the mouth for 6 months only then it's removed.

But my friend who's done the gastric bypass, says eating too much for him is just not an option! It's way too painful. It seems to me that it is all about your willpower. The balloon is fr people who need a nudge, the band is for people who need a helping hand, I'd put sleeve then gastric bypass in that ranking.

So I guess you just need to decide how much help you need to do this. And there's nothing wrong with needing more help than others :)

Good luck to you! I really wish you all the best. Let us know what you do decide, we'll send positive thoughts ur way!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
