Question About Being Stuck..

Recommended Posts

I been reading about everyone getting stuck, etc.. I have not yet had a fill and only banded on the 6th and can eat soft foods now but I feel like I can eat anything every once in awhile a big piece of food will get through and goes down fine. Everything I had so far seems to go down fine, is this because I don't' have a fill did I stretch my band out?? I'm so worried.. I wont' be getting a fill until April 9th :(

Does all this majic happen when the fills come?? AM I in bandstand hell?? Sure feels like it!

If you haven't gotten a fill yet it's highly unlikely that you have any restriction, therefore you won't have a stuck episode. I didn't get my first stuck episode until after my 3rd fill which was on 3/12. Before that i could eat any and everything and didn't have to worry about small bites. Now I have to chew and chew and chew and then chew some more and still sometimes it gets stuck. Trust me, you don't want to get stuck, it's not pleasant at all....good luck to you on your journey

i agree with the above poster. i wasnt on solid foods till about 4 weeks after my surgery and still didnt get a fill until 6 weeks. it's weird but you probably eventually will test you band and will soon find out what stuck feels like. not a pleasant feeling at all

And even with your first fill it will take a while for restriction. Remember band isn't like bypass where it's instant. It's custom designed so each feel you'll be tighten til you get restriction. I'm 18 months post op and just now getting restriction or sweet spot. Mainly cause I went months without a fill and ate like ma piggy over the holidays. I stayed hungry! However just because you're hungry doesn't mean eat everything. I did best when I watches my calories and make sure I get Protein

Oh and the stuck thing I used to wonder what that felt like. Now I pray and ask Jesus after I eat not to let it get stuck???

You'll know when it happens. It is the most awful thing in the world. Miserable and painful

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
