I think this is what bothers me about getting the surgery (scheduled 4/2). Read this article on the stigma of obese people even AFTER they lose weight via WLS.....Inshouldnt worry so much about what others think and just make myself happy and healthy.

Who cares what other people think. Do what you need to do for your own health and the people that don't like it can go **** themselves!

Wow! if you do this to please others I think you are guaranteed to fail. If you dont do it because others prefer you to stay fat or think you will be seen as having cheated by having weight loss surgery I think you are guaranteed to fail!

This is something you do for you, your family, your children...get your head in the game!

What a crock!!! So if u just showed a picture of a normal sized person and gave no information, then all would be ok? Who gives a s___ what people think about what u were before. You need to do this for you and cannot think about what other people say or think. who the heck should care how you lose weight as long as you lose it. It really makes me question the people who would say that in the first place. How self important people can be...

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
