If (wishful thing) a person is very successful in getting very lean (hoping one day to see my 6 pack.. I know it's there, just hidden..lol) will the fill port be grossly visible? Just curious, I get banded next week.. If so, I can live with it since the fat will be gone, but I would like to go shirtless every now and then if successful.

Thanks so much for the wisdom.

My doc said that the way he does surgery he places it so it won't be seen/felt, but said that it's harder to do with men as they tend to ultimately have less subcutaneous (sp) fat (meaning fat between the skin and the muscle). It just depends, ask your Dr where he places the port. I can't feel mine at all- not even sure where it is yet, I'll find out Monday when I get my first fill!!

Doctors do there port sites differently, my doc who did the operation also does my fills, so he put the port on the left next to my belly button, i can feel it, it's kinda odd pulling feeling, and if I put my finger in my belly button I can feel the actual port, it's so weird, at least I know it's in there! Getting fills are awesome! It's a really odd thing, it doesn't hurt, just a kind of pulling feeling and a few popping noises :) I've been banded since September last year, it's been great so far!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
