From 231Lbs To 196Lbs In 8 Months?

Recommended Posts

Hey guys! So I was just wandering is my progress is decent?! So I had my operation on june 25th 2011, since then I've dropped like 35 pounds, but since a recent band fill I cant eat at all! I don't even know if I should be concerned. I'm still finding it hard to choose the right food, anyone got any advise? I'm trying really hard to reach my goal, I think I may be over doing it, any advise would be helpfull, thanks! Happy banding people!

P.S- If anyone is currently thinking of getting the band, I completly recommend it! I have never looked back, it's completly worth it!

Congrats on your weightloss! You are doing great! I was banded in March of Last year. In July I got a fill and it made my band too tight. I could not eat anything without throwing up. Unfortunately I went out of state right after my fill and was gone for 6 weeks so that entire time that I was gone I didnt lose but maybe 2-3 pounds. Since I could not eat anything I turned to slider foods. That did not help the weightloss at all. So if you can't eat anything I recommend going to have some of the Fluid removed otherwise it may cause your weightloss to plateau. Hope this helps you some. Good Luck!

Sounds like good progress to me. Everyone loses weight at different rates, as long as you're moving forwards week by week, keep doing what your doing.

I always look at it this way, even if its half a pound a week over the course of a year that's still 26lbs.

Imagine that, waking up in a year from today 26lbs lighter... that's progress surely!

slider foods are ones that can just slip by the band- milkshakes, ice cream, chocolate, chips, etc. Remember, the band doesn't make good choices for us!!!

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
