Today so far (it's only 10 am) I feel pretty good. Still a little head ache. I did order some protien shakes the other day. I hope they are good. I ordered Myoplex lite? My stomach feels much better too. Still tender but can sit up out of bed much easier today. Yesterday was kind of rough. So weird having a craving for cottage cheese? What is up with that. Well just drank a big glass of citrucel... yum. I have not smoked in a week, had any thing substantial to eat in a week & have not had my beloved diet coke in a week. Marlboro & Coke lost an investor! I am done and on my way to being the healthier me. Everyone thanks for your support, comments and prior posts. It is of great comfort to read other peoples experiences. Thank you and have a great day!

Keep up the good work.

Hi Teri,

Since I am on Clear liquids (with the exception of my Protein drinks), I have been trying different Protein drinks to help fill me up. I have felt like I am starving by the way... Anyway, you might try Perfect Isopure chocolate Peanut Butter Swirl. You mix it with 12 oz of Water for 50 grams of Protein. I have been drinking about 1/2 of the package a day and then using other Protein Drinks to supplement because it does have some carbs... But, it tastes great! Not too sweet, but with a nice Peanut Butter compliment.

Just thought I would tell you how I am making it through my liquid phase.

Take Care,

Hi thank you for contacting me. I should have probably been asking for help and asking others of their experience since my last post. I have been depressed. I feel like I am not losing like I should be. I feel bloated and sad. I am going to the doctor tomorrow for my 1 month check up. I have been beating myself up and struggling with this all. But I will let you know how it goes with the doctor tomorrow.

Thanks for thinking of me.

Terri

TERRI!!! These sentences above are in direct contradiction to one another! Please remember that the first few weeks post surgery are not about weight loss, they are about HEALING. That's all your body is doing at this point. Sure there are lots of people who lose weight while following a liquid diet, but most of the time some or all of that weight will come back on before the first fill. PLEASE don't beat yourself up about it! You are doing absolutely great and there is no reason at all to be down on yourself.

Please come back and let us know how your checkup went. Your journey is just beginning! :D:P

Yes I know they said that several times today at the doctor. Thank you for taking the time out to boost my spirits today. First let me tell you my mindset right now and the past week. I turn 39 tomorrow. It is that time of the month (I am very moody & irritable) I am a single mom of a 15 year old daughter and she well kind of hates me right now. My family is meaning well but they are driving me crazy. I think they are being too supportive (does that even make sense?) I am in sales which is a roller coater ride all by itself and I feel like I am in a sales slump. So that means no income coming in. And I know it is not a competition but the lady I was at the dr with today and had surger 2 days before me lost 10 lbs more than me. I know boo hoo, healing. I know I just feel really crappy lately. I have lost 16 total pounds since I started this and that is great. I really am happy about that. I think I just need some sunshine and a break. So hopefully after the hormones re-adjust I will feel better. Right now I am just a Bitch. Thank you for your time and comfort.

When our daughter was 15, her German teacher called me to complain that "she looked at me as though she hated me!"

At the conference (to which Frau Whoozits brough her union rep, because she KNEW she had stepped over the line on a number of other issues), I laughed and said, "She's 15. Her job description is to be difficult. She doesn't drink or smoke or do drugs or have carnal knowledge of the football team. If she says anything she shouldn't say, or does anything she shouldn't do, let me know right away and I'll handle it. But I'm pretty sure a professional with credentials such as yours can deal with the irate glare of a 15-year-old."

Then I took the kid aside and said, "That woman is a nut case. I don't really care whether you hate her or even what you do. But I don't ever want to deal with her again. Be sweet, be a jerk, I don't care. But if you ever do anything that makes her want another parent conference, I'll make your life a living hell."

We had no more problems. Don't let this phase of parenting get you down. What kept me from getting nuts was the realization that I had already done all the foundation work, and any "control" I thought I could gather was merely an illusion. I had been the coach. I had called all the plays. At fifteen, I was demoted to cheerleader.

Two years later, I tried to butt-in regarding prom arrangements. Finally, she took me aside and said, "Look. I appreciate that you have friends whose kids I know. You need to appreciate that I don't want someone I KNOW is planning on getting drunk barfing all over me and my prom dress. So could you back off, please, and let me continue to plan an evening with MY sober friends, instead of kids I don't hang with because they've got issues?"

Ooooo.

Thank you your right I have laid the foundation and I am just her cheerleader now. It is so hard because it is just her and I. I miss her wanting to be with me. And I hate the glares and the time wasted arguing. She is a good kid (to the best of my knowledge) that does not drink, smoke or have carnal knowledge of any one (I think and hope). I would like to think she would talk to me about issues but not so sure about much right now. Except I need to lose weight, make some money and go on a vacation to some where sunny. Those are for sures. Thanks Sue for your words of wisdom. Greatly appreciated. thanks

Good luck on your banding! Yay! I would love to come to Florida actually hoping to get down there for Easter break along with all the other snow birds. But I can't go and not take my daughter or there would be a real war. haha. And ooooh 15 year old son at 15 I know what that is .... trouble. Hopefully he will be real supportive for you. My daughter is good most of the time. I bought her some new clothes today so she should like me today and it is my 39th birthday so I suppose she will be nice today. Thanks for the pick me up and I wish you success on your weight loss journey. Terri

Hi Teri,

I was banded 2/3/04, so if it makes you feel any better... I have only lost 12lbs... so you have me beat! But, I am trying to be happy with my 12... hey that's an average of 3lbs per week and far better than anything I was able to do in at least 15 years prior to the band plus it has all been with a minimum of exercise... something I am not use to since I normally have to work out like a dog at least 4-5 days a week to keep losing and gaining the same 3 lbs.

We can look at the glass half full or half empty. I feel that the band has put me on the winning side for the first time in my life, so my new motto is the glass is half full.

I hope you are feeling better.

Take care,

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
