Had My First Fill Today!

Recommended Posts

Well i had my first fill today! Woot woot right?! Well they gave me 2.5 cc in my 10 cc band.. things were moving along nicely til it was time to eat....well i decided to have grilled shrimp for lunch.. I chewed and chewed and uh chewed some more. I had 5 medium sized shrimp. My fill did not agree with eating 5 so i ended up slimming until i finally threw up a small portion of it. After that I was fine. It's definately a learning experience when it comes getting a fill with the band. I had adjusted to the plication and the band without restriction. Now it's time to adjust to having fillsblink.png I know i need to listen better to my band , and when enough is an enough. I now understand what people say when they say "They are making the face". lol i saw myself in the bathroom trying to keep it down.. the face i was making was huh.png interesting lol. But now that i have my fill maybe i can kick into gear with the weightloss again!

You are not suppose to eat on fill days, Did your doc not tell you liquids, for the first day full liquids next day then mushys the day after that then food?

You may have to do several days of liquids now because the swelling will be worse a the episode.

Lesson learned :)

I can't believe they did not tell you! How are you supposed to know? I just scheduled my first fill for March 27th so we'll see how it goes. I am on day 2 of mushies (soooo much better than soup!!) but I had a horrible reaction to an anti-biotic (Augmentin) yesterday and last night, and ended up in the ER for treatment (goodbye $250 deductible!). They pumped my body full of steroids (prednisone) and Benadryl and other stuff. The itching has subsided but the humongo welts are still there, just lying flatter against the skin. Now, the battle of the prescribers starts- ER doc wants me to take steroids for 3 days and switch antibiotics, so I purchased those. Surgeon absolutely forbids the steroids which will compromise my immune system and stop healing on my (internal) incisions, risking possible tearing and or internal bleeding which can lead to.....death. Soooooo, surgeon wins! No more steroids although the itching FINALLY stopped! Quel cauchemar, as they say in French! ("What a nightmare!"

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
