Hi my name is Stephanie, I am new to this site but have been banded for almost 4 years. I could not be happier with the weight loss, I have lost about 229 lbs in the 4 years. I am very happy I did the band I feel much healthier, just wish now I could afford to have the skin removed so that I could feel I look as perfect as I would like. I look good in clothes but do not like to look at myself without. I have about 16 lbs to go til I can be considered normal weight. I do exercise but nothing seems to help. any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

Oh my goodness! What a success story! You are an inspiration to me as I've just started my journey a month ago. My goal was to be down 25lbs at my 1 month bandiversary and I made it today (3 days shy!) Congrats! Thats exciting to see long-term results to all of us newbies!

Hi my name is Rosa. I went to a class yesturday that was about lapband surgey. I am trying to decide to do it or not. The doctor said you have to stop eating steak, rice, bread and paste. With him saying that it made me think if you stop all that than you dont need the lapband thats some of the foods that make you gain the most weight. I will like to know if anyone else doctor said the same or is it just the doctor i seen that it just his perfernce on that?

Well, all the above mentioned food can cause sticking issues for some people. I can eat it all, though with steak I have to stick with filet mignon. The tougher the meater, the harder to go through the pouch for me!

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.
