i know the not drinking with meals can be tough, but it's done to keep the pouch from flushing out and emptying to soon.

Wait till two hours have passed between your meal and when you drink and drink atleast two cups of fluids before your next meal. That helps me

I also would suck on sugarfree popsicles an hour after if i was wickid thirsty.

I drink with my meals. I don't have much, maybe an ounce or 2. My doctor has said now that as long as it is a little sip and you wait 30-60 seconds it's fine. It works for me.

I found that when I stopped eating super salty foods (esp chips, french fries) that I was a lot less thirsty when eating.

It's hard at first, but you really just have to force yourself. My surgeon says drinking with meals is one of the number one reasons that the lap band doesn't work the way it's supposed to. I count the seconds until I can drink again after meals because I feel so thirsty sometimes, but I force myself to wait. It'll become second nature after a while, so hang in there!

Once you have good restriction, food wiil accumulate in your pouch while eating, and you will have to stop eating at some point. Automatic Portion Control, part of being in the Green Zone.

So, drink Water on top of that....and you will learn why real quick, and you will never do it again.

Don't have a drink near you at your meals. I find if I don't have a glass of whatever at the table, I don't drink. Wait at least 30 minutes after your meal to start drinking again.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
