Question About Amount Of Food

Recommended Posts

I got my 4th fill 1.5 weeks ago. This is the first time I've really noticed a difference. Usually, I'm a little tight for a couple days, then I'm back to "normal". This time, I was a little tight, then seemed to experience restriction as the days go by.

My question is...I've always been able to eat a normal to large portion of food with no problem. With this fill, I seem to be fine for the first couple of bites, then I start to feel pressure in my chest and there is a gurgling noise and bubbles in my throat. If I stop eating, it goes away after 15-20 minutes.

Does that mean that I'm full? I've had a couple of PB instances after this fill and I think it may be that my pouch is full and I eat over it, which makes me PB. I've heard people talk about the small portions they are able to eat and I think that may be what is happening with me, but I'm not sure.

for example, for lunch today I have imitation crab. I ate 1.5 pieces and felt the pressure/gurgleing. The pressure lasted for 1 minutes or so, but the gurgling continues for awhile. It seems like so little of food, but I remember the nutritionist saying that the pouch is only about the size of a ping pong ball, so that makes sense.

Any insights?

Thanks!

Christy

Do you chew well and eat slow? I haven't reached restriction yet, but I know those two things are very important. It sounds like you may be eating to fast. However, it also sounds like you are at restriction so yay! Maybe it just takes a while to get used to it! :)

I have not gotten that "full" feeling once, but I do not eat more than the 4 - 6 oz that I am allowed per meal. But, every 2 hours, like clockwork, I def get hungry... I mean my stomach growls like there is a beast inside wanting out.. lol..this is usually satisfied by a Protein Drink until "meal time" comes around... I am finding it hard to find a variety, but my doc is introducing more food on the 8th of Feb so I have only a week and a half so if I have done it this far.. I can keep it up... listen to your body.. it will tell you a lot... dont ignore the signs.. it is real important!!!

I try very hard to eat slowly, take small bites and chew ALOT - but you might be on to something about eating too fast. I just ate some hummus and pretzels very slowly and chewed a ton and they seemed to go down fine with no pressure or gurgles. I think when you get close to restriction, there is some trial and error to figure out what will work.

Thank you for your inputs.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
