Hi everyone! Wish I had found this site a long time ago. I had my surgery on 01/19/12 and have lost 9 1/2 lbs so far, but most of it was within the first couple of days. I haven't lost anything during this last week even though I was on Clear Liquids for a week and creamy liquids since Thurs. Should I be losing more or is this the norm? I am scheduled for my first fill on 02/01/12 and hope that it will help. Any advice is appreciated.

Per my doc and many on this site, first 4-6 weeks is for healing and becoming acclimated with your band. Remember everyone is different so the worse thing you can do is start comparing your results to others. The best you can do is follow the plan your surgeon/nutritionist gave you and you will have results. Also remember that for many; results are not seen until one starts getting fills. Remain encouraged and optimistic. This site is great!!! For any negative you may come across, don't fall prey. Chew up the meat and spit out the bones.... Meaning take what you need from it and leave the rest alone. Good luck to you.

I had my surgery on 1/16/12 and have lost 10lbs since and that was all in the first week as well. I have been reading as much as I can about this and everything I have read says to give it time. Your body is healing and it is also in what I like to call the "oh crap" mode ... It is going to try to hold on to every little bit it gets aka starvation mode. Put your scale away and don't let it set your mood for the day. It will come off, it is just going to take some healing time first. I know I was pretty upset when the scale stopped moving but I am just going to give it time and only weigh in at the dr office !!! LOL Good luck to you =0)

im 6 weeks out and have only lost 14 lbs but i look upon it as any weight lost is good progress ! wait until you have your 1st nsv ! (non scale victory) . when my jeans were hanging off my hips and i could fit into some old clothes , that was a major "happy dance !" once you've gotten a few nice compliments you feel better. so when the scale slows down think of the nice nsv's you re getting ( Hot Mama ! was one compliment i got . what a hoot !!) best of luck !!

Hi! I was banded on the 19th too. I was on the liquid diet for the first week and then tried mushy food. My stomach is still off. I tried mushy's at day 5, it didn't go that great so I backed off. As of right now the only foods I have tried have been Soup, yougart, squash and oatmeal. I have lost 15pounds. I am pretty active I work and 3 kids so I usually don't get to relax til probably 10pm. I haven't gotten back to the gym yet. 1st Dr. appt Tuesday.

Hey all. I was banded 1/19. I am down about 9 lbs in 9 days. Fighting the want for instant weight loss. It took time to get fat. It will take time to get skinny.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
