Different Dr To Do Fills

Recommended Posts

question. I just had my surgery done by a dr in jersey (I live in bucks county PA) I spoke with another dr much closer to home who said they can do the fills but they are requiring me to do another upper G.I.? (where they put the scope down your throat) I had on before the surgery to detrmine henia risks, is this necessary to have again? My original dr sent them all the info about the lap band used and size etc and the port is easily locatable I dont understand why I'd have to have this procedure (although quick and painless) done again before a fill. can anyone help/explain.

does anyone have a similar experience with getting all their fills by someone other than their original Dr?

Thanks in advance

I am guessing the new Dr would want to check that everything was done correctly by the original Dr. It would be bad for one Dr to take over another Dr's patients and have complications due to the original Dr's work. That would be bad for their practice.

It certainly couldn't hurt to have that information for your future doc to have that information first hand. It is a double check mechanism for doctors to find out if there are any new issues that need to be addressed... it is always best to be safe rather than sorry.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
