Is chicken noodle soup considered mushy???

Recommended Posts

hello! Just wondering if chicken noodle Soup would be considered a mushy in that the chicken is so soft????? Also, without any restriction, does anyone have any suggestions on how much I should be eating. I was banded on the 3rd of Feb, and have felt no restriction at all. For Breakfast, I have been having 2 soft boiled eggs, lunch yogurt and dinner some form of soup... today I made homemade chicken noodle and I wanted to find out if it was considered mushy enough????? I called in to the doctor, but I thought I might get a pretty quick response here. Lastly does anyone know if SlimFast Ultra would be considered a Protein Shake? ??? Lots of questions as you can see.... Please help:confused:

I'm not sure where chicken Soup would come in, but I ate cream of chicken in the liquid phase and didn't blend it, just chewed the chicken. Mashed potatoes were good and even better if you can make them with double milk and also use some of the Protein Powder mixed in with them. When I was on mushies I ate thick black bean soup, refried Beans, tuna salad (w/out chunky veggies) and egg salad was good too. I didn't do the slim fast ultra but I really liked the boost w/protein drinks..their chocolate flavor was yummy. This phase is about healing but don't forget your Protein :)

Mostly, the reason for liquids and 'mushy' is that you don't want your stomach in there churning and grinding on regular foods. The reason being that you are in a period of healing and the band needs to 'anchor' itself in scar tissue. The more churning and grinding for digestion, the less anchoring can take place and guess what? slippage and 'rubbing' of the band against the tummy can cause problems later down the road.

The liquids/mushy stage has very little to do with 'tolerance' of said foods. There is a technical reason for it. Hope this helps you to make choices in the near future! Good luck!

Hi Kathy,

I hate to get off topic, but I've heard you tout the wonders of Egg Drop Soup before and I have to ask....where do you buy it? I've checked my local Kroger without luck. Is it homemade? I'm still healing and am looking for good liquids.

Thanks!! :welldone2:

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
