Hi all,

I'm just checking in for the first time in quite a while. I've been waiting for my doc to get certified at Harper Hospital since they are a "center of excellence" which is necessary if you have Medicare. I've been waiting, really since I first went to a seminar in February. Just got the word that certification is in and now I just have to be scheduled. I'm 2nd in line for the surgery at Harper. Keep your fingers crossed that it'll be soon.

Hello. I just had my Lapband Surgery Tuesday, 7/24/07. I was on a high-protein food supplement program since 7/13/07. As of today I have lost 15 lbs (since 7/13/07) - very happy. I'm also sore from surgery. Will be taking off two weeks from work. Hopefully will be feeling better next week. I had Dr. Randall Baker at MMPC in Grand Rapids, Michigan do my surgery. He is excellent. In fact, it is known for being the 'Center of Excellence'. Is best in Michigan. Highly recommend MMPC - Grand Rapids, Michigan. Note: I need to lose 85 more pounds to reach goal.

Brandy, you're doing great losing the weight! Question: How do you get your tickerfactory hearts to this site? I'm not that familiar with the computer. Thanks. Debra

Thanks Debra.

I did get the ticker at tickerfactory.com. I have a Photobucket account that I copied it onto and from there you copy the URL that they have. You will have to take out the http: out or you will have 2 of them and it won't work. It took me a bit to get it. I had to play around with it, but once you get it you can keep updating and changing it.

Good luck!

Hi All,

They called and scheduled my consultation on the 13th of September - a little further out than I anticipated. I was hoping for August sometime. Now I'm worried they are going to do the tests etc.. required and it's going to put me to close to the new year - I might as well wait so that all my insurance deductibles are met in 2008. I'm so bummed.

How long did it take you from consultation to the tests to the actual surgery???? I know this varies - I'm just curious.

Hey Misty,

For me, it was exactly 2 months from my original consult with the surgeon to the actual day of surgery. I was able to get all the tests that I needed done in that time.. blood work up, physical, heart eval., 2 visits with nutritionist, and my psych. eval. I thought it all went very quickly and smoothly. Good luck !

For me it took forever. I spent about a year, researching and thinking about it. Made the decision while falling deeper and deeper into depression. With that and roadblocks, it took another year. Finally decided I had to climb out of the pit. Flunked the psychological evaluation and my insurance wouldn't cover it. Made the decision to go to Mexico, and two weeks later the deed was done. AMEN ! ! !

Hi Wendiss, thanks for the info. I am considering Dr. Deol and Dr. Bhesiana in Port Huron. Have you heard of him?? Good or bad. I have the check list and was just in to see my pcp but only had him fill out the one for Port huron. I can go back and have him do the checklist for Dr Deol I guess too. How long did it take you to get everything done and get surgery??

Hi Cheryl:

Boy, your in my backyard. I'm from ELk Rapids, Michigan and I had my band done with Dr. Bout/Dr. Bhesiana in Port Huron. I just loved them. That facility is so nice and very helpful and clean. I had Dr. Bout do mine in Nov 2004. and he was wonderful. I would stick with BC/BS of Michigan, they paid for my entire band, minus my co-pay of $2,500. Don't go to Mexico if you don't have too. Get a letter from your family dr. that states you have been on 3 or more diets in the past two years and they all have failed. I started my process (insurance process in May and was approved by November 2004) It was worth the wait for sure. I also seen a psy....?( can't spell dr.) in Traverse City on 8th street that did my syc evaluation. I had it all done in Traverse city. They are also doing this procedure now at Munson Medical Center. Check out the dr. there. I don't remember their names, but if you call Muson, I' m sure they will know. I know the frist woman that had it done at Munson and she looks wonderful know. If you need more information, I would love to talk to you. E-mail me or call me on my cell 239-821-8884. I now live in Naples, FL. I just found a fill doctor here so I'm on my road to lose more now. I was a bit loose for about a 1 1/2 and didn't lose anything, but now back on the road to skinnyville....Have a good day, and be sure and ask questions. I'm still learning this new way of life...but I wouldn't change it now, for the world!:whoo:

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well. I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening. So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this?? Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
