Thanks everyone for the encouraging comments! I'm feeling a little more optimistic today, obviously this is just a phase everyone goes through at one point or another and I've just got to ride it out! I'm looking at cute dresses online I'm going to wear when I get this dang weight off of me! Definitely helping me get my spirits back up, lol.

When is your surgery? I just signed the papers yesterday myself and felt very panicked! I keep going back & forth with the decision and am sure I will continue until the moment theyre putting me under. Im confident we'll find the strength in the end...cant wait to look awesome!

Im just trying to focus on all the reasons to go through with the surgery. Only 2 more days!!!

We will be having surgery on the same day!! I too have been having alot of "what if" thoughts but my biggest motivation is my 2 1/2 year old son. I will be 41 in May and if I don't do something about my weight I won't be here to see him through life. Plus just from reading alot of the posts on here the last few months, it sounds like 95% of the people love the band. It won't be easy but we can do this!!!

My surgery is Thursday, and I'm nervous too- but the excitement trumps all that! It is fear of the unknown, but we are doing this to be happy and healthy and live long, productive lives.

It's worth it!

We all get scared when it comes to any kind of surgery.....but its really not that bad at all. I am no youngster and I came thru the surgery fine....very easy recouperation. It does change the way you can eat but I guess thats why I did this. Six months out and down 43 lbs and not starving at all. Never could have done this without the band.

love the sound of that catlady!

It took me 3 years to finally say I'm going to do this and I have been banded now since 12/13. Being on teh other side of the surgery I am so glad I did this for myself I have lost more weight on the band than I ever did on my own and even though right after is tough for some it is so worth it! Just wait until your clothes just start falling off and the scale is showing numbers you forgot were on the dial. Stay on these boards and read all you can everyone on here was and is a great support and I also found a support group from the hospital I had surgery through and they are wonderful. It really is great on the otherside teeth_smile.gif

Hi everyone. I am glad I found this site. I am one week away from surgery and though in my mind I know this is probably the best thing to do, I am starting to have doubts. I was on a three month program and attended the required seminars and was actually losing 4 lbs a month. I tried real hard sticking to the program, Then came Thanksgiving and I lost my control. I eventually got it back but OI have not been as strict as I was before the holidays. My mind is saying that this operation is a tool. One that will prevent me from going off track and I am hoping I am right. I am an emotional eater and hopefully I will not lose my mind over the next few months.

You ARE right - the band is a tool, along with diet and exercise, to help you achieve the results you want. I was banded on 12/30 and its the best decision I've ever made. You will NOT lose your mind - you just won't be hungry! There are lots of good people here and a TON of information. Read the "pre-op" and "post-op" forums - they are extremely helpful in knowing what to do and have before your surgery and what to expect after. And if you have questions, just ask. I've met the nicest people here and they'll answer any question that you have.

This is normal. I used to feel like that almost all the time before I got the surgery. I had to go through the 4 month supervised diet and so many times I almost backed out. I tell ya what though....I am so glad I have done this. I have lost only 49 pounds so far but I feel so much better! Even getting up in the morning is easier. I used to be in so much pain because of my weight and now thats not the case at all. I seem to be a much happier person now (at least according to my husband lol) I just have a brigter outlook on life in general

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
