Waste your time? What else is more important than finding out what you need to do to get healthy?

ah - a great opening line.."not to be rude"

Like when people say "I'm not prejudice, but...."

That was rude. I do believe she is trying to see if the surgery is even an option - hence the question!

My bmi is 40 and my asthma does not qualify as a comorbidity so I have to stay at 40

I agree Sue i also thought that was a bit of a strange response.

If your BMI is 31, you are most likely overweight.

No she is not most likely overweight, she is obese.

This isn't a quick fix, it's a life style change.

True

This forum is for serious people, not for people who are thinking about giving up before they even inquire if surgery is an option. Honestly, with your attitude you don't sound like you would even get past the psychiatric evaluation (I am not saying you are crazy or unstable- but if you go into a psychologist's office with your present attitude, they will not clear you). Figure out what you want and come back to us with real questions.

Who says she is not serious?( The OP doesn't seem to be the person with the attitude). I understand that she wants to find out if it is possible for her to have the surgery before she gets all excited about it, I would.

It is quite possible that she may not qualify via insurance but that doesn't mean that she cannot enquire. She may also consider her options for self payment and if she could afford the surgery that way. That would mean she also need to consider if she would be happy to travel outside of the USA because of price considerations.

thatsvanity please feel free to ask more questions ( real or otherwise) and don't let some people scare you off. There are a lot of supportive people on this board that are happy to help.

Hi thank you for replying to my question about BMI requirements. I appreciate everyone's response. I am going to an orientation in Pasadena in a few weeks. I'll find out if it turns out to be a possibilty for me, and if it isn't I have more solutions to follow for weight loss. Every path to weight loss is a life style change, but the hard part is keeping life on track with the change. **** happens and a bowl of ice cream looks and feels way better than running three miles. A milk shake after a hard day at work feels better than changing my clothes at a gym. So on it goes... It is in the mind, actions follow the thoughts I guess. I'm about 5' 9" and I weigh 220. I don't know I guess I am depressed and crazy. I need to get out of this funk. The FDA did approve lap band use from 30 BMI and up but I was just trying to get a feel in Cumberland if that was acceptable or not acceptable. Thank you so much,

That's vanity

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
