Obesity and pcos

Recommended Posts

Hello all,

does anyone have pcos and if so when do you start to feel the side effects of pcos going away or taking a back seat, I was told when I was 19 I had pcos and I was about 12st over the years I went up to 21st,<?xml:namespace prefix = v ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:vml" /><v:shape id=_x0000_i1025 style="WIDTH: 11.25pt; HEIGHT: 11.25pt" alt="0" type="#_x0000_t75"><v:imagedata o:href="http://www.lapbandtalk.com/images/smilies/rolleyes.gif" src="file:///C:/DOCUME~1/AMD/LOCALS~1/Temp/msoclip1/01/clip_image001.gif"></v:imagedata></v:shape>

I’m back at 16st 8lb now and have been banded for 3 months, I have a little girl that I fell for when I lost 4st before, she is now 6, but I put it all back again (not banded then), I don't want more kids I just don't want all the other bits that go with pcos, any help would be great<O:p</O:p

Many thanks <O:p</O:p

Hello!

I was diagnosed with PCOS when I was 18 and I've tried to get pregnant with no luck. That's part of the reason why I got the band not the only reason but one. I believe that part of PCOS is weight related. I got the lap band on 2/6/06 and I already got a period. Now I don't know if my body is going through changes or it has something to do with the fact that I lost 28 lbs. I never got a period on my own I always had to take medication, so it's too early to tell. I will definitely keep you posted. Good luck to you and I hope the information was helpful. :)

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.
