Hi all!! I was banded on 11/18/11. I lost about 5 pounds post surgery and have literally been stuck there for a month! I got my first fill on 12/19 of 3cc in a 10 cc band. I recently started going to the gym about 5 days a week just walking and doing the elliptical. I also used myfitnesspal and post to keep about 1000 calories a day. I'm still stuk at the same weight,, could my body still be adjusting, not only to surgery but to working out and eating less calories? Also me calories ate not all carbs at all!! What do you guys think? Its so discouraging to be putting so much into this and have the scale not move, especially so early on! Any tips are greatly appreciated!

No. Can't explain it other than it happens all the time and everyone will have a different opinion as to why.

Just keep on keeping on, follow your Dr.'s instructions, and things will change!

I think it is just taking a little time for your body to adjust. I am sure you are feeling the difference in your clothes. The scale can be our enemy sometimes. Just remember, it took you a while to gain the weight thus it may take sometime to loose it's this is not a race, it's a lifestyle.

I know it is crazy but try moving your calorie intake up to 1200-1300. I was having the same problem and when I did this I started losing again. :)

I was stuck at 171 pounds for months! Then I went on a cruise and it seems that I broke my plateau. Your body gets used to being a certain way, let it adjust and then you will go down again. I was really regretting getting banded until about two weeks ago.

Upping calories worked for me but be careful not to hurt yourself or do it for too long.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
