Lap Band With Plication

Recommended Posts

I had Lap Band with Plication in May of 2011. I weighed 239lbs. and was 5 ft. 9 in. tall. I now weigh 162lbs. and I feel great. I am very happy I had it done. I would like to hear from other people who have had this surgery. I also am a urostomy person. I don't have a bladder and they still did this surgery on me. I feel so much better to have lost all that weight and I have more energy. I eat pretty much what I want to just less of it. I also drink a lot of Slim Fast. Let me hear from you!

I was nervous too. But I did really well. The Dr. was great and he even had prayer with me before the surgery. I am still losing a little along. I really think I have lost enough. But I don't mind if I lose a little more.

I am scheduled for a hiatal hernia repair with a plication on Monday. I have a lap band for 2 yrs now and weight loss is stalled. I'm wondering how long after surgery did people resume going to the gym. I'd like to keep doing some cardio --even at a low level. Some treadmill, bike, or eliptical. I know that lifting will be curtailed for at least a month. Thanks.

Hi I'm scheduled for this new iLAP procedure on 7/30/12.

I'm very nervous about it, because I have never had any type of surgery before. Can anyone talk about how your recovery went? My Doc does it as outpatient, so I plan to go home the same day. How was your first days after surgery?

hi done

i had that very surgery and recovery went well.

please keep in mind that this is major surgery so expect some pain or discomfort. other people handle pain better than others. my left shoulder hurt and my neck for several days afterwards and with me doing fluids in, fluids had to come out. haha but they give you pain meds to help. i suggest ythis ou use them. again, i am just speaking for me. i am down nearly 40 pounds and hopefully more in the coming future.

i highly recommend this surgery. my incisions have healed wonderfully and right at 100% again.

please read, ask questions but def keep a positive attitude. you can do it.

all the best

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
