Good luck tomorrow! I'm having mine tomorrow also but I don't ave to be at the hospital until noon. I'm going to try to stay up late so I sleep late. No coffee tomorrow is going to be tough. I'm going to need it to keep me calm. I'm so nervous and excited all at the same time.

There are a couple of us on here that are having our surgeries tomorrow. Yay us!!!

I'm still at least 3 months out... but I'm wondering why the Gas X? just curious

Hi! My husband and I were banded on Monday the 19th - 3 days ago. When they do the surgery they blow up your stomach with co2 and I actually found that the gas pain after the surgery was more significant that the pain from the incisions. Our nurses said that we can use GasX to help move that along but we still have to walk it out.

I've taken 4 or 5 GasX pills in the past three days and I've been walking a lot. That's the only way to get it moving out of your system.

i had very little gas and the drugstore was out of gas x strips so i bought little gas x pills, they worked fine for me. the one thing i wish id had after surgery through the first day was Lifesavers! i had the worst cottonmouth after surgery, all day! i couldnt get ice chips down fast enough in recovery, or drink enough propel at home. it took several hours for my mouth to start producing saliva. get yourself some lifesavers!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
