You don't say how big your band is....2 cc in a 5 cc band is different than 2 cc in a 10 or 14 cc band.

I learn so much in the forum. I never thought to ask the doctor what the size of the band was!

Well you are unlikely to feel full the way you did before you got the band. What you should be aiming for is satisfied. If you go past that and eat too much you will find that the new full or overfull is very very uncomfortable.

Agreed. Many people use the term "Feeling Full" from the band.

For me, it has never been that type of feeling. That would be physical. From my own experience, it has been more of a mental signal sent to the brain, that I am "Not Hungry" or "I don't feel like eating" right now. That is the appetite suppression.

I've gotten my Wife annoyed where she has spent the afternoon preparing something, a family favorite, and I will say sorry, I'm not interested in eating right now. Maybe later.

I'm listening to my band!

Isn't that how it all started when we were little? Don't leave the table till you've eaten everything on your plate!

We were forced, and taught, to overeat!

The physical, uncomfortable feeling from restriction, is what gives me Portion Control. When I do eat, it is physically impossible to overeat without that uncomfortable / painful experience.

I would imagine going past that would be how one stretches their pouch, or esophagus, as had recently been talked about.

Don't feel bad. I was banded on the 9th of July also and I don't know what size my band is either. I have an appointment on the 24th of this month. So I will have a lot of questions for my surgeon.

I found out my band is a 10cc band and the surgeon put 2-3cc in it during surgery. I actually did not get a fill on my last appointment because I had lost too much weight since surgery. Good luck.

I didn't know this information either. My surgeon is not very forthcoming with information . . . unless I ask the "right" question. I did not know what type of band I had until I received my lap band "meal" card in the mail. I have the Lap-Band (brand) and it is an "AP LARGE that can hold 14 cc. I have had 2 fills (currently have 6 cc) and I have NOT hit the green zone yet. My next fill is September 5th. I have to ask my doctor after the fill how many cc he added because he never offers to tell me. . . .

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
