Anyone Else Feel Bulimic?

Recommended Posts

I was stuck for a couple of months before Christmas, indulged over the holidays, and just went for a fill last week. I was a little afraid because in Oct., I was filled too much and ended up in the ER for dehydration. Now I feel the band is working, I can drink, even eat a little, and feel truly lucky. But then there is the times when I want to eat something, having nothing to do with hunger, and don't care if I PB. In fact I feel like good, I had what I wanted, it tasted good, and now I don't have to worry about the calories. This is truly a head thing. And now that I am tighter, if I eat too close to bedtime I get terrible reflux all night. Of course, I can't get myself to exercise either. Maybe it is just winter? Anyone else play head games with themselves? I should be so happy that I have come this far(80 lbs), but thought I would be so much farther by this time(banded 9/03) Thanks for listening.

I'm pre-op, but I sure do understand the head hunger thing. Do you think you might want someone to talk to about this, like maybe some therapy? I mean, as long as you feel like you have control over it, and it isn't controlling you, that's what is important. If it was me, I would just keep a really close eye on the behavior. If you ever feel like it's getting out of control, RUN, don't walk to your nearest therapist. I hope it resolves for you.

Ohh, I never feel like that about PBing, never! I hate to PB. I have only done it a few times because I hate it so much. I am so afraid I will mess up my band if PB too much. I really avoid anything I think is "iffy". I wont even eat bread because the first time I got stuck on bread it was so miserably painful, it isnt even worth trying now for the chance it will happen again. However, I do fight the head games. I have to fight the munchies many nights. Sometimes within an hour of eating I get the munchies.....so you know that is ALL in my head, lol.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.
