Getting through the red tape

Recommended Posts

I have been getting very frustrated lately. I have been working on all of my clearances now for several months. I am soooo ready to move forward and it just seems there is always some stumbling block. I try to be patient, but it has been a long road to get to where I am now. It is looking like I will have to wait now until April for my surgery. Any pre-lap memories out there to help me feel a bit better?:omg:

Oh geeze, I didn't have to deal with insurance (self pay) but I did have to jump thru all the hoops of the pre-tests. Luckily, if it's really lucky, I had a pretty bad hernia the doctor wanted to repair at the same time, so I got pushed thru the line fairly quickly. Even still, I was so anxious and nervous I didn't think the day would ever arrive. And now here I am a month later saying, 'Wow, where did that month go??'

Hang in there. Everything happens in just the right time. Trust that your surgery will too. Take this time to start preparing yourself mentally and physically for the surgery. Start watching your food, lose what you can, exercise, etc. All of this will help you make a speedy recovery and give you less to lose after the surgery!

Lorie it took me 4 months to get approved and then I ended up having to have 2 surgery's 1 to get my gallbladder removed due to finding gallstones during my preop tests for my lapband.....so I had to wait 1 month after that surgery to get my lapband surgery done...What an ordeal...but well worth the wait!!! Hang in there you will be in band land soon!!!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
