Anyone tried popcorn??

Recommended Posts

Thanks for asking this question. I was thinking the same thing. I LOVE popcorn and I couldn't understand why I couldn't eat it. It's nice to hear so many of you all don't have any problems with it. I've only had the band for a month, so I'm a little new to the lingo. What does a "slider" food mean?

That maybe why our Nuts are advising to avoid popcorn.. it's a slider and we can eat way more than we should. Also if you're talking movie popcorn, if you get the butter on it, it's deadly (re: calories).

Slider foods are things that slide on down past the band and don't contribute to a feeling of satisfaction or fullness.

The 100 calorie microwave bags are good, but I worry about all the extra chemicals in them. You can do your own microwave bag.. take a brown lunch bag, spritz the inside with olive oil, add 2 Tbspn popping corn, fold down the top and microwave for about a minute (adjust for your oven). Take out and spray with "I can't believe it's not butter" type spray and enjoy!!

I eat it all the time. I seem to lose weight faster if popcorn is my snack food.< /p>

I don't eat it often but I do snack on it at the movies. Never had a problem with it.

I don't eat popcorn at all. My theory is that it expands if you drop it in the sink (water) and I'm afraid that it'll stretch my pouch. Not only that, but my doctor would have a fit if he knew I was eating carbs.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
