My only suggestion at this point would be to call a Bariatric Center of Excellence and see what you think of their program. I don't know of anyone who wasn't happy with their treatment and care at one.

There are six in the city, find the one closest to you, you'll have to make six or eight visits, but I

guarantee it'll be worth it. I had my surgery at Cedars-Sinai in LA and had absolutely no problems,

even walked two miles the day after. Best of luck to you, and welcome to the group.

Hello, allforjj. Welcome to the group. you've come to the right place for support and tips as well as motivation. Like yourself, I too have to lose 150 pounds. I had my surgery on July 12, 2011. My beginning weight was 304 in just under two months I lost 27 pounds. At my 3 month check up I lost an additional 2 pounds putting my total weight loss to date at 29 pounds.

So I have 120 more to go. I had my 4 month check-up yesterday and I am still at 275 pounds. I am currently working on stablelizing my eating. For a while there though I wasn't able to eat much because I was so restricted because of a hernia repair as well as the lap-band surgery. Long story short, I am fairing pretty well.

I would like for us to befriend each other that way we won't have to sift through 1000s of replies just to find the one we're looking for. and we can speak privately and personal with each other.

I had the lap band because I saw it as a way out, I know it is just a tool and that I still have to work hard but it is helpful.

I am here for support, so you can count on me. I don't get on here everyday but I do visit the site at 3 times out the week.

Well good luck, God Speed and God bless

Success

Keep coming back to this site! I had a lot of my questions preband answered here. And some that I didn't even know I should be asking! And now postband I still come back daily. There is always something new to learn, someone new to inspire you, and a group of people to support you as much as possible :)

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
