Is it the one with the two female patients who had the band? I went onto his website and saw a couple clips on them but wasn't sure of the date these were premiered.

I saw the clip with the 2 female patients on his website. One showed what she ate in a day. It consisted of several large spoons of yogurt and some other not identifable mushie stuff. If I had not already researched the band and what you can eat and the changing of eating habits I woud be completely turned off by it and would not even consider the band. . I cannot imagine eating unidentifiable food for the rest of my life. Foertunately I know that this is not necessary and it is possible to eat most regular foods in moderation. ns reach ny health goals.

Was that the episode with Dr Garber from the NY Bariatric Group on it? I used Dr Spencer Holover who is part of the practice. I had seen it when it aired and if I remember correctly the 2 women featured did seem to eat quite differently. One was much more the soft/mushie kind of foods but the other ate more normally, just small portions. I do think Dr Oz spoke favorably about the proceedure but did have professionals who were for & against for balance to the program.

Sounds like a repeat that I have seen before. It is so untrue. We wish that is all we ate. I don't think anybody could live on the amount of food they said they ate. Your body would go into starvation mode right away and your body would shut down to conserve calories and they would not lose.

This is posted in the Pre-surgery section so I say to you do not go into this thing thinking that is what you are going to eat because it is not true. Most people eat about 1/2 to 3/4 cup of Protein PER meal along with veggies.

I know when this first aired there was a thread about it so I think you could search for it and read what was said by Banded people who watched it back then. It was after I was banded so it had to be in the last 2 years. It might not be the same one but it sounds like it.

The message I got from watching this....they both said that they would 100% have the Lapband surgery again. Thanks for sharing...another reason why I am making the right decision!

Having watched the clips, I noticed the woman who was banded 6 years said the one who was banded six months had food that was for right after surgery. I was glad she said that, but don't know if it was caught by many. It bothered me just a bit that the food they showed could not possibly have the Proteins necessary for health. I think it is another of those "extreme just for the tv" type shows at this point.

I was thinking the same thing. My surgeon told me he would like us to have 90g of Protein a day. 5 spoons of yogurt, broth and 4 spoons of pudding wouldn't even come close to that.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
