I got my lap band at University of Illinois, Well I had it put in on 9/2006 I was 315 was down to 163 in 2009 then Major things were starting to happen. I had no restriction my port was bending with my body and to top it off I lost my job so had no insurance ! ! I paid for the visits out of pocket $ 250. 00 they were not helping. The doctors wnated to have nothing to do with me ! I guess they got thier $ worth out of BCBS $34, 000. NOW i HAVE PUT ON 50 PDS AND NO ONE WILL HELP !! The sad thing is I live in chicago with sooo many university, hospitals, and specialty doctors . And not one I have called will help !! Good Luck.

 Just stay motivated if you can keep alling until they know your voice and call you by name. lol

i finally got in for 2 emergency unfills..one at UIC with a doc Dr. elli called and told to see me..(on a tues) had to go in that friday for another unfill with Dr. e. oh i gave him a piece of my mind about how i was given the run around and how i felt since i was self pay that they didnt care. i have been in for 2 other adjustments since then with no problems.

i'm so sorry you are dealing with that...i dont understand what's going on with your band and why you cant get adjustments.

i too will be self pay for my next adjustment as my first year was paid but come may 20th it will be a year and i'm sure i dont need to see him before then. i am grateful that i met my goal in the first year, but of course now i want to loose another size and i'm praying i can do it with my current level of restriction, cuz i think $250 a pop is ridiculous!@

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
