How big is a "large band"?

Recommended Posts

I had my surgery in the US. The doctor who did the surgery told me he used a Large band. I always thought it was a 14cc band as I thought there were 10's and 14's.

My new doc only uses the 10cc band and thinks this is the large size.

Anyone know?

I have the largest one which is 14cc's which is made by Allegran. You might have the Realize band. Don't quote me on this but I think the largest one for that brand is 10cc's.

It should say somewhere in your discharge papers from the hospital. If you can't find it, call his office and ask.

Here is a web site that explaines it pretty definitively. It's on a web site "who's name must

not be spoken", but it is a good explanation. http://www.obesityhe...e-band-faq.html

I was told a large band was used but I do not know the cc specifications as of yet. When I go in for my first fill in late November I am sure the discussion will come up. My doctor told me I would take more fills due to the larger size being used. The two close people to me who had the surgery also did not get the large band. Accordingly, I should expect a couple more fills to get to the right spot with the band. Today is Monday. Had surgery last Thursday: no hunger and have had four Protein shakes a day without any issues. I have drank as much Water as I want, which is not a whole lot. About six cups a day. coffee is fine. I have cut back on the powder Creamer though just to improve my habits. Decaff now with everything. No painkillers necessary. Walking just fine! Forcing myself to heal properly after reading the board.

I hope my adjustment to band life is a little more gradual since the band is big; I am optimistic since my recovery has been so trouble free. I am eating really slow to be safe.

Super congrats! You are doing great! And no pain meds also means no constipation! :-) Anyway, continued god luck to you! You have a great attitude! Soon you will be also saying stuff like it is the best thing I have ever done for myself; it has changed my life for the good in so many ways, etc etc!!

I read the article. I didn't realize that all lap bands leak minimally (like a helium baloon), so once reaching goal weight, they still will probably need adjusting once a year! Great info! Thank you!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
