How long does a Blue Cross approval take??

Recommended Posts

I have done all my requirements and my info was sent to the insurance company last Tuesday. Does anyone have Blue Cross? How long did your approval take? My birthday is coming up an I'd like to make plans... I'm so impatient :(

Mine took around 6 months because I had barely any health problems & I am very young. But my mom got approved immediately. Probably within a week or so.

So crazy how the wait period varies with each person.

I was really lucky and approved within 2 days.

Have you signed up with Blue Cross site to be able to view your authorizations and claims? I did, my paperwork was apparently faxed yesterday and when I logged in this morning on a whim - I actually had an authorization there for 11/11 (My Surgery Date) for my hospital....Check it out. I was impatient to and worried about how sure the center was about them accepting a letter I submitted from my employer regarding a Wellness classes I participated in for my six month nutrition - I couldn't believe it was as simple as they were making it out to be - everything just moved so quickly for me I figured there would have to be a snag somewhere. Good Luck!!

Mine took a month and a half. That's because my surgeons r laggars and very disorganized. I been approved since early august and have been literally begging them to book my surgery. I finally begged enuf and got a November 4th surgery date. Blue cross on the other hand is awesome. In my opinion they want their obese group members to get this procedure.

I have Highmark BC/BS and the surgeon's office submitted my paperwork in early October last year and it took almost a month to approve. They said this time of year it takes longer because people are trying to get it done while their deductibles have been met. Good luck to you!!!

I highly believe that may be an excuse. Blue cross anthem is super fast. They even assigned ne a case manager to b a mediator for me. So when my office lags it, she calls them to speed things up for me and she can fax them Watever they need. She told me once everything had been submitted to insurance, it takes 7-10 days for approval. She told me honestly it's really only 5 days tho.

Im switching to BCBS during open enrollment. They told me that they do cover lap band..but cant give me any specifics on what the requirements are to be approved until AFTER we switch insurance. So Im kinda going into it blind just following posts about BCBS on these forums and hoping for the best.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
