Almost Have a Date

Recommended Posts

Well, things have gone pretty fast since my PCP sent my 2 yrs of medical records. I'm pretty fortunate with my insurance that I only had to have a phych, and meet the over 40 BMI requirement. No pre-approval needed. Most requirements were from my surgeon. My first appointment with him was on 09/21/11, my birthday, and I just got a call from his office scheduling a pre-op appointment on 10/31. The woman I spoke with said that since I'm having the LB, I should get my surgery date when I come in for my appointment. When I spoke with the nurse on my 09/21 appointment, she told me right around Thanksgiving and definitely before Christmas. I guess she was right. Still scared and excited :D

Good luck! I was so anxious to have my surgery and it kept getting changed, so when I finally had it, I was so excited. Just follow all the doctor orders, it helps. Invest in Protein Shakes, gas-x, and Vitamins. And lots of broths.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
