When did you start seeing steady weightloss?

Recommended Posts

I was banded on 7/14/11and have lost 25lbs including 2 week pre-op liquid diet. I just had my 3rd fill last Friday and feel a little frustrated with my progress maybe I have an unrealistic expectation but was hoping that I would be further along in the process. But enough whining my question is where in the process did you start seeing consistent and significant weight loss? I realize that everyone is different and that I didn't put the weight on overnight and should be more patient but I am interested in finding out at what time or fill everyone started to have a consistent loss.

Thank you for all your comments in advance.

I was banded on july 13 and have lost 28 lbs, including pre-op, so far we are on the same track! I totally get what your saying, but almost 3olbs in 3 months is still awesome!

I was banded on 8/12. I lost 6 lbs pre-op. I lost 16 lbs the first week and have been losing steadily since. At my last weighing, I had lost 40 lbs. I am eating about 1400 cals/day and going to the gym 3 or 4 times per week.

But you're right.....everyone is different. I always had a tendency to lose weight pretty quickly. My downfall is that I tend to plateau well above my goal and fail as a result of frustration. Then gain the weight back. My reason for the band was to help me break through that plateau and keep the weight off.

The better metric in my mind is how much healthier I feel. I am type II diabetic and tend towards hypertention. Since my surgery and subsequent weight loss....my sugar levels are normal without medication, and my blood pressure is well within normal range.

I always said, even if I didn't lose a pound, if I could get my medical conditions in check without medication, I would be happy.

Sounds to me like you are on the right track. That amount of weight loss in only a few short months is excellent.

Best of luck to you.

When i work hard at it, I see very steady loss. Every couple of days I lose .5 or so. if I'm being lax about what I'm eating, it'll swing up & down a lot.

I did from the beginning, but I do work at it most the time. The last month and a half it has finally slowed down to about 10 pounds a month which is where it should be. It also depends on how much you have to lose and how you work with your band.

i lost lot of weight fast, after surgery, and now i avg about 3-5lbs a month. it depends on how good i am. I have y days where i eat pizza and chocolate at night ( PMS) thoose weeks its about 1 lb week.

I and a little frustrated though, i losta lot of weight the first few months after surgery so i was used to seeing the scale move so quickly, now is creeps down .50 at a time. But im nuts and weigh my self every am. Its my judge of how i need to continue to stay on the right eating track, or if im ok to snkc a but more and maybe eat a little worse.

its hard , very hard, the head hunger is still here no matter what anybody tells you. We all must change our relationship with food, and we have the band to help us.

i have always been able to lost weight, its keepingit off, and like the above have mentioned, hitting a stand still and then gaing weigh back after no results. so the band helps me continue to loose loose loose. sometimes my weight goes up a lb or 2 during the week but every apt at the dr i have always lost . not as fast as i like sometimes, but thats my fault when its really slow weight loss.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
