I'm wondering about the "full" feeling after surgery. What does it REALLY feel like?

Recommended Posts

There are days I have to keep reminding myself I NEED to eat.

Wow I can't wait to be at that place.

Btw, I hope it's not too rude to ask, but what were your eating habits before the surgery? Did you eat big portions? Or did you snack a lot? Both?

I'm just interested to know because I eat portions that are too big but I don't really snack at all so i'm wondering if my lap band will have a similar effect on me as it did on you

BTW CONGRATS on reaching your weight loss goal!!! woohoo!

For me it feels kinda like when you are swallowing a large pill and it doesn't quite go all the way down. Not in stomach so much as in your chest. After I feel that I stop eating and 10 minutes later I am completely satisfied. I am a newbie but that's what I have noticed.

My full feeling is exactly the same as before, it just happens way sooner.

Two things - when i feel that just swallowed a large pill feeling, ive overeaten! And i agree waiting till youre really hungry to eat can make eating difficult - you eat fast and are likely to get stuck, and hunger causes me to get acidy and a bit refluxy and then food hurts and burns on the way down. My band also seems a lot more sensitive if im really hu gry, almost like it clamps down on whatever i swallow, which causes discomfort if not vomiting

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
