Hi,

my name is Isabelle and l am also new here :0).

Since I had my gall bladder taken out, quit smoking and had a baby at the age of 35 I am not Isabelle anymore. My weight is 233 (!!!) pounds and I have never felt so bad, mad and helpless in my entire life!

I spoke with my bank teller 2 weeks ago and she told me about her story and the lap band. She was a 220 pound girl 1 year ago and now she is a size 0. She looks amazing and this is my goal! I need to loose this weight and I am very freaked out, that a lap band would not work for me. Since I am not eating all day, can it be that in my situation it is a hormonal thing? Does anyone know?

I am very excited to be here and I hope for lots of info.

Have a good night, Isabelle

Why wouldn't a Lap band work for you? A lot of people heavier than you have been successfully

banded. Look through this forum, you'll find many of them who have lost all they wanted.

Talk to a good hospital that does weight loss surgery and see if they can't help you,

and best of luck.

Have you had your thyroid checked. Plus sometimes what we think is not eating that much really is. I am newly banded 9-1-11 and have lost 26 lbs. You should check into it. Go to your regular Dr. and see what he or she has to say. Thats what I did and he said it was a great idea for me. Plus if you can get your insurance to pay for it then it is a long process. I was a self pay patient so it went fast for me but my sisters insurance paid for hers and she had a long wait. Anyway, something to think about. Good luck to you in whatever you decide.

good morning to you,

thanks so much for your respond!

corrigan, i have tried so many things to loose this weight and nothing helped me. weight watchers, other diets. my doctor gave my some really bad pills (later we found out that there was speed in them) and it was horrible. i am very sensitive to meds and i had cold sweats, heart was racing, couldnt breath, felt sick to my stomach. it was a nightmare. after 2 month i gave up. lost 8 pounds in the first month and nothing in the second.

so now i am scared a doc would tell me: sorry! you are not a candidate for this because of xxxx reason (that i dont have influence on).

i already made my mind up and yes, if this is for me, i will go for it! i am just in the beginning of my research and i am very thankful i found you all.

stacythegreat, my husband will call kaiser permanente today. i want to know if there is a chance that they will help me pay for this surgery. i am very serious about this, i just dont really know where to start. my thyroid was checked more than once and everything is ok with that.

the lady at the bank told me that she paid for it and it was 10.000 dollars. is that what a surgery like this cost?

it is not only the weight, i am really miserable and i feel so bad for my kids and my husband. i was a very active girl, scuba diving, horse back riding, walking, swimming, bowling. this is all gone :(. i feel like everything is too much for me and i dont like it.

thanks again for your respond and i will get some infos today. have a good day, isabelle

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
