Does Mild Sleep Apnea Count??

Recommended Posts

So I got my sleep results back...A dx of mild form of Obstructive Sleep Apnea, at this point I do not need cpap unless it gets worse. I still have the high cholestrol/lipid panels as well. My BMI is 37/38. I meet with the suregon tomorrow. We will not know my insurances decision for about a month. Even before the suregons office will submit auth for lapband theres a few appts through suregon I have to attend (Psychiatric appt x1, Nutrition class x1, and also a lab band seminar x1) after all these appts are done, they will then ask for auth from tricare for procedure. So, of course Im nervous, I will go through all these appts with hope for a good outcome. Anyone know if mild form of OSA counts as a comorbid?

My insurance just states sleep apnea for a comorbid- doesnt specify

I have mild sleep apnea and it worked for me. Do you have to use a CPAP machine? I did even with my mild sleep apnea.

The Sleep Center said I dont qualify for cpap machine at this point,,,, weight loss/behavioral therapy was best and very well could fix most of the problems?

I'm not sure if you are required to have a cpap to get qualified. That would be a question I would ask. Also ask your insurance company what requirements they need for you to have the surgery.

Well I did see the suregon again...I drank a tons of Water before appt and got my BMI to 38. 4 i think it was? Well the suregon is willing to try on my behalf and submit my case to tricare for the surgery. He says there a 50/50 chance since I do not meet bmi requirments and he is not sure that mild sleep apnea&super high cholestrol is enough for my insurance. So I will not know if I will be approved until mid-late October. My Docs office wont submit authorization until I have had my 1appt w/pschologist&1 appt w/dietican(which soonest I can get in for those appts is Oct19th)...so I have a little wait! Fingers Crossed!

i have heard of folks gaining weight to get it done! so how much would you have to gain to make 40 bmi? sometimes they lose the weight and have to go back and regain to resubmit- this actually happens. sad but true

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
