Congratulations. I had my surgury on 9-1-11 I have lost 25 pounds. I had my first fill this past Wed. didn't hurt just a very weird feeling. I can see a difference now in how much I can eat and I stay full longer. I think it helps not drinking Water during my meal. I follow that to the T. My Dr. suggests no drinking 20 min before a meal none during the meal and none an hour after the meal. That has been my hardest adjustment. I hope all goes well with your surgery.

Hi Kim! Congrats on your upcoming surgery!! I am from Fort Worth, Texas and was banded by Dr. Snow on 7/26th. I have lost 50 pounds and can't wait to get to 50 more!! You will love how the lap band helps you. You still have to eat the right things but it will help you with the amounts. Good luck to you and keep us informed on your progress and remember we are here if you have any questions.

Hi Kim,

I am also a Texan, living in Dallas. This seems like a good forum and lots of support, which helps make our journey easier. So who's your doc?

Hello all...

Thank you all for the wonderful inspiration. In the midst of all of this, I lost my Grandmother, so I haven't done so great on the pre-op diet but I'm back on today. I'm not a huge carb eater anyway. Good luck everyone! My Dr is Mardsen.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
